Who we are

4 Agency is a trading name of James Cowan, based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. James Cowan is the data controller for the personal information described here. You can contact us at james@4.agency.

What we collect

When you email us or book a call, we collect the details you give us, such as your name, email address, phone number, business name, and anything you tell us about your business. If you become a client, we also hold the information needed to deliver our services and to invoice you.

Why we use it

We use your information to reply to you, arrange and deliver our services, send invoices, and keep proper business records. Our lawful bases are taking steps to enter into, or to perform, a contract with you, our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries, and our legal obligations, such as keeping tax records.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your information. We share it only with services that help us run the business, such as our email and website hosting provider and our accountant, and only as needed. This website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries that don't lead to work for up to 12 months. We keep client records for as long as the law requires, which is usually six years after the end of the tax year they relate to.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it or stop using it. To do so, email james@4.agency. If you're unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
